Narrative:
Was given crossing instructions to cross snomy intersection at 16000 ft MSL. Miscalculated descent point and crossed at 17500 ft MSL. No other aircraft in vicinity. Got distracted taking care of a caution light problem that arose during our descent. First officer laughed and said, 'I knew you weren't going to make it, but I thought you were going to show me some fancy flying technique.' I asked him why he didn't say something sooner? He said, since I said something to him while he was flying into denver and he was early to his crossing restriction by 25 mi, he was going to wait to see if I was going to show him something. This first officer is an old captain flying as an first officer. He hates the company he works for since he lost his captain position in the merger.
