Narrative:

In sum: widebody transport takeoff from cgn and misunderstood norvenich 2 hotel SID. Planform note says to cross lv LOM at 3500 ft. Text says to climb straight ahead until passing lv LOM 'and' 3500 ft, turn right.... Heavy aircraft unable to comply. Rather than advise ATC, crew thought they could climb beyond lv LOM until reaching 3500 ft before starting their turn. Because of a problem engaging the autoplt, there was delay contacting dus departure controller and, when they finally did call him, they were seriously chastised. Supplemental information from acn 240909: I have subsequently determined that the intent of the nor 2H SID text is: 'turn right at 3500 ft, but not before passing the lv LOM (5 DME), intercept the nor R-107 inbound.'

Title: WDB MISSES ALT XING RESTRICTION AND OVERSHOOTS REQUIRED TURN ON SID THUS VIOLATING NOISE ABATEMENT PROC.

Narrative: IN SUM: WDB TKOF FROM CGN AND MISUNDERSTOOD NORVENICH 2 HOTEL SID. PLANFORM NOTE SAYS TO CROSS LV LOM AT 3500 FT. TEXT SAYS TO CLB STRAIGHT AHEAD UNTIL PASSING LV LOM 'AND' 3500 FT, TURN R.... HVY ACFT UNABLE TO COMPLY. RATHER THAN ADVISE ATC, CREW THOUGHT THEY COULD CLB BEYOND LV LOM UNTIL REACHING 3500 FT BEFORE STARTING THEIR TURN. BECAUSE OF A PROB ENGAGING THE AUTOPLT, THERE WAS DELAY CONTACTING DUS DEP CTLR AND, WHEN THEY FINALLY DID CALL HIM, THEY WERE SERIOUSLY CHASTISED. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FROM ACN 240909: I HAVE SUBSEQUENTLY DETERMINED THAT THE INTENT OF THE NOR 2H SID TEXT IS: 'TURN R AT 3500 FT, BUT NOT BEFORE PASSING THE LV LOM (5 DME), INTERCEPT THE NOR R-107 INBOUND.'
