Narrative:
We were air carrier X en route from austin to houston hobby. Our APU was inoperative which kept us behind all day long and we were trying to catch up to our schedule. We had to start at the gate, and push back and taxi were very close together. I called for taxi and received from austin ground, air carrier X taxi runway 13R, hold short of runway 17. I looked over at the captain who was starting to taxi and received from him what I thought was non verbal acknowledgement of the taxi instructions. I cleared my side of the aircraft (right) and we taxied out on taxiway left to H. I started doing takeoff performance and prepared for the pretkof challenge and response checklist. All of a sudden, I heard austin tower call air carrier X to hold short of runway 17. I immediately looked out and saw the yellow hold short line on the east side of runway 17 go under our nose. I asked the captain if he heard the hold short call. No response. I wondered why we were on tower since I had not changed to tower frequency. I looked north on runway 17 and saw a single engine aircraft about 2000 ft from our position. I then heard austin tower cancel his takeoff clearance. From my position he was not moving on the runway. By this time we were through runway 17 and taxiway H. I asked the captain if he heard the hold short of runway 17 on taxi out and he stated he had not. Tower called again and asked 'air carrier X, did you understand you were supposed to hold short of runway 17.' all I could respond to was a 'roger.' the captain decided to takeoff and go on to houston hobby since we were coming back to austin to ron. By the time ground/tower called us the first time we could not have held short of runway 17.

Title: ACR ACFT DOES NOT HOLD SHORT AS DIRECTED. ACFT ON TKOF ABORTS.
Narrative: WE WERE ACR X ENRTE FROM AUSTIN TO HOUSTON HOBBY. OUR APU WAS INOP WHICH KEPT US BEHIND ALL DAY LONG AND WE WERE TRYING TO CATCH UP TO OUR SCHEDULE. WE HAD TO START AT THE GATE, AND PUSH BACK AND TAXI WERE VERY CLOSE TOGETHER. I CALLED FOR TAXI AND RECEIVED FROM AUSTIN GND, ACR X TAXI RWY 13R, HOLD SHORT OF RWY 17. I LOOKED OVER AT THE CAPT WHO WAS STARTING TO TAXI AND RECEIVED FROM HIM WHAT I THOUGHT WAS NON VERBAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE TAXI INSTRUCTIONS. I CLRED MY SIDE OF THE ACFT (R) AND WE TAXIED OUT ON TXWY L TO H. I STARTED DOING TKOF PERFORMANCE AND PREPARED FOR THE PRETKOF CHALLENGE AND RESPONSE CHKLIST. ALL OF A SUDDEN, I HEARD AUSTIN TWR CALL ACR X TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 17. I IMMEDIATELY LOOKED OUT AND SAW THE YELLOW HOLD SHORT LINE ON THE E SIDE OF RWY 17 GO UNDER OUR NOSE. I ASKED THE CAPT IF HE HEARD THE HOLD SHORT CALL. NO RESPONSE. I WONDERED WHY WE WERE ON TWR SINCE I HAD NOT CHANGED TO TWR FREQ. I LOOKED N ON RWY 17 AND SAW A SINGLE ENG ACFT ABOUT 2000 FT FROM OUR POS. I THEN HEARD AUSTIN TWR CANCEL HIS TKOF CLRNC. FROM MY POS HE WAS NOT MOVING ON THE RWY. BY THIS TIME WE WERE THROUGH RWY 17 AND TXWY H. I ASKED THE CAPT IF HE HEARD THE HOLD SHORT OF RWY 17 ON TAXI OUT AND HE STATED HE HAD NOT. TWR CALLED AGAIN AND ASKED 'ACR X, DID YOU UNDERSTAND YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 17.' ALL I COULD RESPOND TO WAS A 'ROGER.' THE CAPT DECIDED TO TKOF AND GO ON TO HOUSTON HOBBY SINCE WE WERE COMING BACK TO AUSTIN TO RON. BY THE TIME GND/TWR CALLED US THE FIRST TIME WE COULD NOT HAVE HELD SHORT OF RWY 17.
