Narrative:

While conducting a visual approach to richmond's runway 12, I requested permission to land on runway 30 to save taxi time after landing. Tower advised it was approved and to keep it tight. I broke off the approach to runway 12 and ended up in a very steep turn close to the ground to make an uneventful landing on runway 30. From this instance I learned that I will not try a close in tight base to avoid taxiing. I think the fact I was late and was operating on very little rest was very influential in this unwise decision.
