Narrative:

Aircraft has no fuel gauge, fuel capacity is determined with calibrated 'stick.' was advised fuel level indicated 'about' 14 gallons (didn't check it personally) should have had 2 hours of fuel. Engine quit at 1 + 30. Was within 4-5 mi of destination. Will check fuel level myself in future. Landed in cow pasture (burns car gas) got 5 gallons of fuel and flew aircraft to destination airport (without incident).
