Narrative:
On jun/wed/93 at XA30 local time I departed to las vegas, nv, with 5 hours 30 mins of fuel on board (84 usable gallons). At 3 hours 45 mins of flight time, both gauges showed empty. I made a precautionary landing at grand cavern landing strip 15 NM, 091 degrees off of pgs. My wife and I recalculated all times, referred to the operating manual, and visually inspected the fuel tanks. Our calculations indicated we had a minimum of 1 hour fuel remaining. The left tank had approximately 1 1/2 inches of fuel visible. I departed for kingman, az, about XD15. Approximately 8 mi from kingman, the left tank was empty and the engine stopped. I switched to the right tank, restarted the engine, and idented a landing spot. The right tank emptied as I was lowering the landing gear. The engine stopped as I slowed for landing. I landed without incident on a graded, uninhabited, county road in front of the valle vista volunteer fire department facility. I purchased 25 gallons of 92 octane unleaded gasoline from a local resident. At approximately XE00 I departed for kingman for additional fuel.

Title: PLT OF AN SMA SEL ACFT MADE A FORCED LNDG OFF ARPT DUE TO FUEL STARVATION. NO ACFT DAMAGE OR INJURIES.
Narrative: ON JUN/WED/93 AT XA30 LCL TIME I DEPARTED TO LAS VEGAS, NV, WITH 5 HRS 30 MINS OF FUEL ON BOARD (84 USABLE GALLONS). AT 3 HRS 45 MINS OF FLT TIME, BOTH GAUGES SHOWED EMPTY. I MADE A PRECAUTIONARY LNDG AT GRAND CAVERN LNDG STRIP 15 NM, 091 DEGS OFF OF PGS. MY WIFE AND I RECALCULATED ALL TIMES, REFERRED TO THE OPERATING MANUAL, AND VISUALLY INSPECTED THE FUEL TANKS. OUR CALCULATIONS INDICATED WE HAD A MINIMUM OF 1 HR FUEL REMAINING. THE L TANK HAD APPROX 1 1/2 INCHES OF FUEL VISIBLE. I DEPARTED FOR KINGMAN, AZ, ABOUT XD15. APPROX 8 MI FROM KINGMAN, THE L TANK WAS EMPTY AND THE ENG STOPPED. I SWITCHED TO THE R TANK, RESTARTED THE ENG, AND IDENTED A LNDG SPOT. THE R TANK EMPTIED AS I WAS LOWERING THE LNDG GEAR. THE ENG STOPPED AS I SLOWED FOR LNDG. I LANDED WITHOUT INCIDENT ON A GRADED, UNINHABITED, COUNTY ROAD IN FRONT OF THE VALLE VISTA VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPT FACILITY. I PURCHASED 25 GALLONS OF 92 OCTANE UNLEADED GASOLINE FROM A LCL RESIDENT. AT APPROX XE00 I DEPARTED FOR KINGMAN FOR ADDITIONAL FUEL.
