Narrative:
We were told to taxi to runway 6 via echo. Echo runs diagonally to runway 6 with a 1/2 left and then a short parallel. The hold short lines have been moved from the end to just after making this turn. A little unusual. After making the turn, I inadvertently taxied past these marks with going to the 'end' in mind. I then noticed the 'black out' lines ahead and queried ground. He said I was about 50 ft past the hold short line. It was a VFR day and no conflict could really arise at this position. Ground had no further comment when I asked if there was any problem. (Hence, this form.) I'll not forget it again, but how about the next guy? Maybe better marking (sign, bigger?). Callback conversation with roa controller revealed the following: third party callback to roa control tower revealed that many pilots are overlooking the new hold line and associated sign. The txwys are used on a waiver because they are too close to the runways. Part of echo looks even closer than golf. That is the reason the hold line was moved.

Narrative: WE WERE TOLD TO TAXI TO RWY 6 VIA ECHO. ECHO RUNS DIAGONALLY TO RWY 6 WITH A 1/2 L AND THEN A SHORT PARALLEL. THE HOLD SHORT LINES HAVE BEEN MOVED FROM THE END TO JUST AFTER MAKING THIS TURN. A LITTLE UNUSUAL. AFTER MAKING THE TURN, I INADVERTENTLY TAXIED PAST THESE MARKS WITH GOING TO THE 'END' IN MIND. I THEN NOTICED THE 'BLACK OUT' LINES AHEAD AND QUERIED GND. HE SAID I WAS ABOUT 50 FT PAST THE HOLD SHORT LINE. IT WAS A VFR DAY AND NO CONFLICT COULD REALLY ARISE AT THIS POS. GND HAD NO FURTHER COMMENT WHEN I ASKED IF THERE WAS ANY PROB. (HENCE, THIS FORM.) I'LL NOT FORGET IT AGAIN, BUT HOW ABOUT THE NEXT GUY? MAYBE BETTER MARKING (SIGN, BIGGER?). CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH ROA CTLR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: THIRD PARTY CALLBACK TO ROA CTL TWR REVEALED THAT MANY PLTS ARE OVERLOOKING THE NEW HOLD LINE AND ASSOCIATED SIGN. THE TXWYS ARE USED ON A WAIVER BECAUSE THEY ARE TOO CLOSE TO THE RWYS. PART OF ECHO LOOKS EVEN CLOSER THAN GOLF. THAT IS THE REASON THE HOLD LINE WAS MOVED.
