Narrative:
I was ferrying an airplane from portland to arlington flying formation with my supervisor. I let my supervisor handle the navigation chores and I 'went along for the ride.' because my boss hates to spend money on new sectionals he was using a chart that was yrs out of date. The chart showed the top of the TCA (seattle) at 7000 ft MSL. We transitioned nearly the entire length of the TCA at 8000 ft MSL, 2000 ft within the TCA with no clearance. The error was discovered by me on the flight back to portland with another pilot with current charts. In the future, I will only fly with current charts and will not rely exclusively on other pilots for navigation. I had deferred navigation to a pilot who I knew was often lax when it came to keeping charts current because he is my supervisor and is a very experienced pilot (several thousand hours). It won't happen again.

Title: PLT FOLLOWING ANOTHER ACFT WITH OUTDATED CHARTS FLIES INTO AND THROUGH TCA 2000 FT BELOW CEILING.
Narrative: I WAS FERRYING AN AIRPLANE FROM PORTLAND TO ARLINGTON FLYING FORMATION WITH MY SUPVR. I LET MY SUPVR HANDLE THE NAV CHORES AND I 'WENT ALONG FOR THE RIDE.' BECAUSE MY BOSS HATES TO SPEND MONEY ON NEW SECTIONALS HE WAS USING A CHART THAT WAS YRS OUT OF DATE. THE CHART SHOWED THE TOP OF THE TCA (SEATTLE) AT 7000 FT MSL. WE TRANSITIONED NEARLY THE ENTIRE LENGTH OF THE TCA AT 8000 FT MSL, 2000 FT WITHIN THE TCA WITH NO CLRNC. THE ERROR WAS DISCOVERED BY ME ON THE FLT BACK TO PORTLAND WITH ANOTHER PLT WITH CURRENT CHARTS. IN THE FUTURE, I WILL ONLY FLY WITH CURRENT CHARTS AND WILL NOT RELY EXCLUSIVELY ON OTHER PLTS FOR NAV. I HAD DEFERRED NAV TO A PLT WHO I KNEW WAS OFTEN LAX WHEN IT CAME TO KEEPING CHARTS CURRENT BECAUSE HE IS MY SUPVR AND IS A VERY EXPERIENCED PLT (SEVERAL THOUSAND HRS). IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN.
