Narrative:
No clearance was received prior to takeoff. I did not confirm this until after takeoff. I did not check to verify the clearance prior to departure. Departure did not receive a transponder code after takeoff. The first officer and I then realized we had not received a clearance. I called clearance delivery at approximately 5000 ft MSL and shortly after takeoff received the clearance. Both pilots checking and verifying the clearance at the gate would have prevented this incident.

Title: AN ACR MLG TOOK OFF WITHOUT AIRWAYS CLRNC.
Narrative: NO CLRNC WAS RECEIVED PRIOR TO TKOF. I DID NOT CONFIRM THIS UNTIL AFTER TKOF. I DID NOT CHK TO VERIFY THE CLRNC PRIOR TO DEP. DEP DID NOT RECEIVE A XPONDER CODE AFTER TKOF. THE FO AND I THEN REALIZED WE HAD NOT RECEIVED A CLRNC. I CALLED CLRNC DELIVERY AT APPROX 5000 FT MSL AND SHORTLY AFTER TKOF RECEIVED THE CLRNC.
