Narrative:
On departure, was asked if we had air carrier X in sight. I saw a jet at 1130 O'clock, approximately 2 mi and assumed it was air carrier X and reported 'air carrier X in sight.' after second affirmation, we were turned to right. When turn was initiated, air carrier X was seen immediately below us at same speed. First officer made immediate left turn and air carrier X accelerated away.

Title: COMMUTER LTT HAS NMAC WITH ACR ON DEP.
Narrative: ON DEP, WAS ASKED IF WE HAD ACR X IN SIGHT. I SAW A JET AT 1130 O'CLOCK, APPROX 2 MI AND ASSUMED IT WAS ACR X AND RPTED 'ACR X IN SIGHT.' AFTER SECOND AFFIRMATION, WE WERE TURNED TO R. WHEN TURN WAS INITIATED, ACR X WAS SEEN IMMEDIATELY BELOW US AT SAME SPD. FO MADE IMMEDIATE L TURN AND ACR X ACCELERATED AWAY.
