Narrative:
I was working the local control-1 position departing aircraft on runways 35R and 35L. It was a little hazy outside, visibility about 7 mi. We had a full blown departure rush going on -- one of the biggest of the day. I just instructed air carrier X to contact departure when I noticed small aircraft Y 3 mi north of the airport at 7000 ft MSL. I immediately tried to contact dr-1 (departure control) to ensure they issued traffic. I overheard traffic being issued. I then issued traffic to air carrier Z who had just departed runway 35R. I then informed my supervisor of the situation. He called to the TRACON, since small aircraft Y was in my airspace without my approval. He told me they would take care of the situation. Small aircraft Y was then turned away from the airport to the satellite airport where he was landing. I then continued to depart aircraft. A close call was avoided, I think.

Narrative: I WAS WORKING THE LC-1 POS DEPARTING ACFT ON RWYS 35R AND 35L. IT WAS A LITTLE HAZY OUTSIDE, VISIBILITY ABOUT 7 MI. WE HAD A FULL BLOWN DEP RUSH GOING ON -- ONE OF THE BIGGEST OF THE DAY. I JUST INSTRUCTED ACR X TO CONTACT DEP WHEN I NOTICED SMA Y 3 MI N OF THE ARPT AT 7000 FT MSL. I IMMEDIATELY TRIED TO CONTACT DR-1 (DEP CTL) TO ENSURE THEY ISSUED TFC. I OVERHEARD TFC BEING ISSUED. I THEN ISSUED TFC TO ACR Z WHO HAD JUST DEPARTED RWY 35R. I THEN INFORMED MY SUPVR OF THE SIT. HE CALLED TO THE TRACON, SINCE SMA Y WAS IN MY AIRSPACE WITHOUT MY APPROVAL. HE TOLD ME THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF THE SIT. SMA Y WAS THEN TURNED AWAY FROM THE ARPT TO THE SATELLITE ARPT WHERE HE WAS LNDG. I THEN CONTINUED TO DEPART ACFT. A CLOSE CALL WAS AVOIDED, I THINK.
