Narrative:
There really wasn't any event or situation. I just did something I wasn't supposed to do. I hope this doesn't give you work for no good reason. I had left my headset and microphone in a previous airplane I had flown that day. I tracked down the crew that had the airplane at that time in jax. I couldn't reach them while I was on the ground and I knew they would be gone on their next leg before I got to stl. So, the only time I could reach them was while I was at cruise. Without thinking too much about it, I left the control of the aircraft with my first officer and stepped back to first class to use the telephone and reached the crew in jax, who found my headset and returned it to me later that week. Next time, I would have a flight attendant call for me or just wait until I was on the ground.
