Narrative:
Main cabin door central auxiliary panel light illuminated in flight. Checklist was followed. Maintenance control radioed and deferred code issued. Flight continued to tys and returned to clt. Maintenance tried to defer without looking at door. MEL status plane cannot be deferred beyond maintenance base. After I called operations, I was told they would fix it. Shortly I was told no part. It would be deferred on basis of no parts and parts on order. Maintenance said they did not have to make a notification in the aml, just deferred. I talked with mr. X, director of operations, he said that was correct. 3 days later, I was in same airplane. Maintenance cleared microswitches and found no problem. No parts changed! Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter wants us to add 'door' and 'central auxiliary panel' in the first line of her report to make it read a little more sensibly. She further stated that her air carrier was having a rash of door problems for a while. Some of them were real problems, and some were just indication problems as this one.

CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR WANTS US TO ADD 'DOOR' AND 'CENTRAL AUX PANEL' IN THE FIRST LINE OF HER RPT TO MAKE IT READ A LITTLE MORE SENSIBLY. SHE FURTHER STATED THAT HER ACR WAS HAVING A RASH OF DOOR PROBS FOR A WHILE. SOME OF THEM WERE REAL PROBS, AND SOME WERE JUST INDICATION PROBS AS THIS ONE.
