Narrative:
Upon landing in calm conditions, a passenger's hand got caught up in my deflation line causing the line to be wrapped around the burner blast valve. Touching the ground caused the balloon to rebound due to the extra heat put into the balloon. At 15 ft above the ground, I decided to continue on a positive ascent as opposed to descending. The area I was to land at was an estimated 150-175 ft. I ascended over the next house and leveled off. I then proceeded to land in a 1 acre backyard, approximately 500 ft away from where I previously had touched down. Contributing factors: pilot was in the back when landing, normally in front. How it was discovered: aborted landing after touchdown and the balloon rebounded. Corrective measures: upon the balloon rebounding, adding additional heat to ascend over obstacle (house). Perceptions, judgements, decisions: pilot should have been closer to controls and in the spot he normally stands at. Actions and inactions: I believe it was appropriate to fly on and ascend as opposed to descend again and have the forward motion carry the balloon forward. Factors affecting performance: none.

Title: A COMMERCIAL HOT AIR BALLOON PLT BOUNCED ON LNDG.
Narrative: UPON LNDG IN CALM CONDITIONS, A PAX'S HAND GOT CAUGHT UP IN MY DEFLATION LINE CAUSING THE LINE TO BE WRAPPED AROUND THE BURNER BLAST VALVE. TOUCHING THE GND CAUSED THE BALLOON TO REBOUND DUE TO THE EXTRA HEAT PUT INTO THE BALLOON. AT 15 FT ABOVE THE GND, I DECIDED TO CONTINUE ON A POSITIVE ASCENT AS OPPOSED TO DSNDING. THE AREA I WAS TO LAND AT WAS AN ESTIMATED 150-175 FT. I ASCENDED OVER THE NEXT HOUSE AND LEVELED OFF. I THEN PROCEEDED TO LAND IN A 1 ACRE BACKYARD, APPROX 500 FT AWAY FROM WHERE I PREVIOUSLY HAD TOUCHED DOWN. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS: PLT WAS IN THE BACK WHEN LNDG, NORMALLY IN FRONT. HOW IT WAS DISCOVERED: ABORTED LNDG AFTER TOUCHDOWN AND THE BALLOON REBOUNDED. CORRECTIVE MEASURES: UPON THE BALLOON REBOUNDING, ADDING ADDITIONAL HEAT TO ASCEND OVER OBSTACLE (HOUSE). PERCEPTIONS, JUDGEMENTS, DECISIONS: PLT SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLOSER TO CTLS AND IN THE SPOT HE NORMALLY STANDS AT. ACTIONS AND INACTIONS: I BELIEVE IT WAS APPROPRIATE TO FLY ON AND ASCEND AS OPPOSED TO DSND AGAIN AND HAVE THE FORWARD MOTION CARRY THE BALLOON FORWARD. FACTORS AFFECTING PERFORMANCE: NONE.
