Narrative:
Final approach controller gave us cleared for visual to runway 26R after we called airport and traffic in sight. Intercept heading was 240 degrees, approximately 10 mi out. The controller then gave us a 210 degree heading and changed us to tower. We couldn't contact tower and advise them that we were now on a heading due to frequency congestion and we flew through the extended runway 26R centerline and probably encroached on the runway 26L extended centerline. About at altuna and an altitude of about 7000 ft MSL, TCASII gave an RA to descend at which time I turned right to reintercept runway 26R final. An aircraft on runway 26L final was 200 ft above and about 1000 ft laterally from us, which I had visually.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN ACR LGT HAD A TCASII RA IN THE TFC PATTERN.
Narrative: FINAL APCH CTLR GAVE US CLRED FOR VISUAL TO RWY 26R AFTER WE CALLED ARPT AND TFC IN SIGHT. INTERCEPT HDG WAS 240 DEGS, APPROX 10 MI OUT. THE CTLR THEN GAVE US A 210 DEG HDG AND CHANGED US TO TWR. WE COULDN'T CONTACT TWR AND ADVISE THEM THAT WE WERE NOW ON A HDG DUE TO FREQ CONGESTION AND WE FLEW THROUGH THE EXTENDED RWY 26R CTRLINE AND PROBABLY ENCROACHED ON THE RWY 26L EXTENDED CTRLINE. ABOUT AT ALTUNA AND AN ALT OF ABOUT 7000 FT MSL, TCASII GAVE AN RA TO DSND AT WHICH TIME I TURNED R TO REINTERCEPT RWY 26R FINAL. AN ACFT ON RWY 26L FINAL WAS 200 FT ABOVE AND ABOUT 1000 FT LATERALLY FROM US, WHICH I HAD VISUALLY.
