Narrative:
Copilot was flying, I mentioned that we would probably turn off at B2 highspd, hold short of the next runway, en route to our gate. This was my first time into yul. After landing on runway 24R, we turned off at the highspd. It was taxiway echo, not B2. Tower controller was speaking french to other aircraft. My first officer switched to ground as I slowly taxied toward runway 24L. Tower/ground was upset, they wanted us to turn right on taxiway bravo. I normally just clear the active and stop, but since I couldn't understand tower and thought I was on B2, I slowly taxied ahead. Another aircraft was crossing runway 24L at echo and had to turn right on runway 24L. Creating an inconvenience for him and ground. I called the tower supervisor once at the gate -- he said there wasn't a problem. In the future, I will exit the active runway and stop until the first officer and I agree on where we are and where the controling agency wants us.

Title: FLC INADVERTENTLY TURNED OFF RWY AFTER LNDG ONTO THE WRONG TXWY DUE TO A MISUNDERSTANDING BECAUSE OF A LANGUAGE BARRIER.
Narrative: COPLT WAS FLYING, I MENTIONED THAT WE WOULD PROBABLY TURN OFF AT B2 HIGHSPD, HOLD SHORT OF THE NEXT RWY, ENRTE TO OUR GATE. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME INTO YUL. AFTER LNDG ON RWY 24R, WE TURNED OFF AT THE HIGHSPD. IT WAS TXWY ECHO, NOT B2. TWR CTLR WAS SPEAKING FRENCH TO OTHER ACFT. MY FO SWITCHED TO GND AS I SLOWLY TAXIED TOWARD RWY 24L. TWR/GND WAS UPSET, THEY WANTED US TO TURN R ON TXWY BRAVO. I NORMALLY JUST CLR THE ACTIVE AND STOP, BUT SINCE I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND TWR AND THOUGHT I WAS ON B2, I SLOWLY TAXIED AHEAD. ANOTHER ACFT WAS XING RWY 24L AT ECHO AND HAD TO TURN R ON RWY 24L. CREATING AN INCONVENIENCE FOR HIM AND GND. I CALLED THE TWR SUPVR ONCE AT THE GATE -- HE SAID THERE WASN'T A PROB. IN THE FUTURE, I WILL EXIT THE ACTIVE RWY AND STOP UNTIL THE FO AND I AGREE ON WHERE WE ARE AND WHERE THE CTLING AGENCY WANTS US.
