Narrative:
#2 engine failed at rotation. First officer (me) was flying, dumped 200000 pounds of fuel and returned to ord. Fortunately, we had 2 relief pilots on board so they functioned as flight engineer's. Given that I make few lndgs, this was #11, I would have felt overloaded had there only been 2 pilots. I was also lucky because the day before I had been to the simulator for 3 lndgs. I was about to become non-current (less than 3 lndgs in 90 days). I have operated 2-MAN airplanes before and enjoyed them. This airplane is different. This 2-MAN operation is not safe due to reduced first officer proficiency and complexity of international operations. Short segments (nrt-mnl, tpe-bkk) are operated with no relief pilots.

Title: FLC OF A WDB ACR ACFT DUMPED FUEL AND RETURNED TO LAND AFTER FAILURE OF 1 OF THE 4 ENGS.
Narrative: #2 ENG FAILED AT ROTATION. FO (ME) WAS FLYING, DUMPED 200000 LBS OF FUEL AND RETURNED TO ORD. FORTUNATELY, WE HAD 2 RELIEF PLTS ON BOARD SO THEY FUNCTIONED AS FE'S. GIVEN THAT I MAKE FEW LNDGS, THIS WAS #11, I WOULD HAVE FELT OVERLOADED HAD THERE ONLY BEEN 2 PLTS. THIS 2-MAN OP IS NOT SAFE DUE TO REDUCED FO PROFICIENCY AND COMPLEXITY OF INTL OPS. SHORT SEGMENTS (NRT-MNL, TPE-BKK) ARE OPERATED WITH NO RELIEF PLTS.
