Narrative:

On final approach to runway 20 placed landing gear selector in down position. Air was bumpy and didn't notice lack of pitch change associated with extension of gear. Didn't notice gear lights were out. Checked all bulb to be active, but felt gear was down. Landed with gear retracted. I believe the gear visual check on the floor is so poorly visible as to be non-usable. I should have checked with tower for visual check as I didn't have green light. Tower was obscured by trees. I should have taken a wave off and had tower confirm gear extension. I believe the defect was a short in the electrical system so extension was not affected. Aircraft had minimal damage, engine was at idle, propeller bent, minimal damage to undersurface of fuselage.
