Narrative:
I was PNF. We accepted a visual to runway 26L at den to follow 'an airbus 5 mi ahead.' 1 mi outside of altur we received a TA followed rapidly by an RA to 'climb, climb.' TCASII screen showed traffic 100 ft below us. Captain started a climb as I asked tower about traffic. Tower said that a 727 was abeam us on a visual to runway 26R. I then sighted traffic directly abeam us at the same altitude. We continued to a normal visual approach and landing. The 727 actually passed us prior to touchdown. The key event was that we were never told about the traffic on a visual to runway 26R. The horizontal spacing looked similar to that at sfo runway 28L/right which is a special procedure (not anticipated at den). I feel very strongly that we should have been told about any traffic allowed to fly formation on our aircraft. Supplemental information from acn 264208: when we accepted our visual clearance, approach control did not state that there would be parallel visual approachs in progress.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: LGT ON VISUAL APCH HAS TCASII RA.
Narrative: I WAS PNF. WE ACCEPTED A VISUAL TO RWY 26L AT DEN TO FOLLOW 'AN AIRBUS 5 MI AHEAD.' 1 MI OUTSIDE OF ALTUR WE RECEIVED A TA FOLLOWED RAPIDLY BY AN RA TO 'CLB, CLB.' TCASII SCREEN SHOWED TFC 100 FT BELOW US. CAPT STARTED A CLB AS I ASKED TWR ABOUT TFC. TWR SAID THAT A 727 WAS ABEAM US ON A VISUAL TO RWY 26R. I THEN SIGHTED TFC DIRECTLY ABEAM US AT THE SAME ALT. WE CONTINUED TO A NORMAL VISUAL APCH AND LNDG. THE 727 ACTUALLY PASSED US PRIOR TO TOUCHDOWN. THE KEY EVENT WAS THAT WE WERE NEVER TOLD ABOUT THE TFC ON A VISUAL TO RWY 26R. THE HORIZ SPACING LOOKED SIMILAR TO THAT AT SFO RWY 28L/R WHICH IS A SPECIAL PROC (NOT ANTICIPATED AT DEN). I FEEL VERY STRONGLY THAT WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN TOLD ABOUT ANY TFC ALLOWED TO FLY FORMATION ON OUR ACFT. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 264208: WHEN WE ACCEPTED OUR VISUAL CLRNC, APCH CTL DID NOT STATE THAT THERE WOULD BE PARALLEL VISUAL APCHS IN PROGRESS.
