Narrative:

The communication equipment, i.e., radios, on the local control position in use, LC2, would intermittently cease transmitting in the middle of a broadcast. This caused a gross inefficiently in the system as I had to take valuable time re-stating the control instructions instead of being able to devote time to moving other air traffic. Additionally the potential for loss of separation or accidents is greatly magnified if timely instructions cannot be completed. Greater emphasis must be placed on maintenance and repair of vital equipment necessary to the ATC system.
