Narrative:
Reported for work at XA00 for a 12 hour shift flying a helicopter in EMS operations. Flew 1 mission in morning and was scheduled for a part 135 IFR check ride in the afternoon. The oral started around XA00 and took 2 1/2 hours. The check ride started around XX00 and lasted 2 hours. The debriefing started around XY00 and at XZ00 I got paged out for another EMS flight. By this time I was tired from the long day and now flying a loaner aircraft which was a little different than our regular aircraft. We were flying to a hospital which is southwest of the city. The loaner aircraft had RNAV but no LORAN. Our regular aircraft had RNAV and LORAN one to backup the other. En route to the hospital I noticed the lights on the ground just didn't look right and discovered I had entered the wrong information into the RNAV. I made the correction and turned to a new heading but came very close to local airport. I think maybe taking a check ride on a duty shift is not a good idea.

Narrative: RPTED FOR WORK AT XA00 FOR A 12 HR SHIFT FLYING A HELI IN EMS OPS. FLEW 1 MISSION IN MORNING AND WAS SCHEDULED FOR A PART 135 IFR CHK RIDE IN THE AFTERNOON. THE ORAL STARTED AROUND XA00 AND TOOK 2 1/2 HRS. THE CHK RIDE STARTED AROUND XX00 AND LASTED 2 HRS. THE DEBRIEFING STARTED AROUND XY00 AND AT XZ00 I GOT PAGED OUT FOR ANOTHER EMS FLT. BY THIS TIME I WAS TIRED FROM THE LONG DAY AND NOW FLYING A LOANER ACFT WHICH WAS A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN OUR REGULAR ACFT. WE WERE FLYING TO A HOSPITAL WHICH IS SW OF THE CITY. THE LOANER ACFT HAD RNAV BUT NO LORAN. OUR REGULAR ACFT HAD RNAV AND LORAN ONE TO BACKUP THE OTHER. ENRTE TO THE HOSPITAL I NOTICED THE LIGHTS ON THE GND JUST DIDN'T LOOK RIGHT AND DISCOVERED I HAD ENTERED THE WRONG INFO INTO THE RNAV. I MADE THE CORRECTION AND TURNED TO A NEW HDG BUT CAME VERY CLOSE TO LCL ARPT. I THINK MAYBE TAKING A CHK RIDE ON A DUTY SHIFT IS NOT A GOOD IDEA.
