Right engine failed just prior to slat retract, approximately 1500 ft MSL on departure from runway 18L mem. Declared emergency, climbed runway heading to 2500 ft MSL. Requested vector for visual approach to runway 18R. Approach and landing uneventful. ATC and emergency people very professional and helpful.
