Narrative:
Was given clearance to 2100 ft and passing 2400 ft. We had an RA to pull up hard, and 2000 FPM to avoid traffic which may have cone off hayston roads airport (VFR). Other aircraft was VFR climbing and turning into us. ATC approach controller did an excellent job of heads up for us before TCASII called traffic climbing into us. Missed by 300 ft vertical. After climbing back to 3000 ft traffic went under us at 2100 ft according to approach. Later, when I talked to controller's supervisor, we verified that the MVA was 2100 ft near hampton roads airport. I'm sure VFR aircraft didn't see us either. We didn't see him. Thank goodness for approach controller's heads up call and TCASII RA. We used full thrust with plus 2000 FPM climb to evade traffic. Clear of conflict call didn't come on until 3000 ft MSL with other aircraft below us 900 ft.

Title: MLG HAS NMAC WITH ACFT DEPARTING VFR.
Narrative: WAS GIVEN CLRNC TO 2100 FT AND PASSING 2400 FT. WE HAD AN RA TO PULL UP HARD, AND 2000 FPM TO AVOID TFC WHICH MAY HAVE CONE OFF HAYSTON ROADS ARPT (VFR). OTHER ACFT WAS VFR CLBING AND TURNING INTO US. ATC APCH CTLR DID AN EXCELLENT JOB OF HEADS UP FOR US BEFORE TCASII CALLED TFC CLBING INTO US. MISSED BY 300 FT VERT. AFTER CLBING BACK TO 3000 FT TFC WENT UNDER US AT 2100 FT ACCORDING TO APCH. LATER, WHEN I TALKED TO CTLR'S SUPVR, WE VERIFIED THAT THE MVA WAS 2100 FT NEAR HAMPTON ROADS ARPT. I'M SURE VFR ACFT DIDN'T SEE US EITHER. WE DIDN'T SEE HIM. THANK GOODNESS FOR APCH CTLR'S HEADS UP CALL AND TCASII RA. WE USED FULL THRUST WITH PLUS 2000 FPM CLB TO EVADE TFC. CLR OF CONFLICT CALL DIDN'T COME ON UNTIL 3000 FT MSL WITH OTHER ACFT BELOW US 900 FT.
