Narrative:
Near maximum gross weight takeoff. Preceding aircraft to takeoff was air carrier Y 757. Tower cleared us to takeoff 30 seconds after 757 liftoff. Air carrier Y was only 2 mi away on TCASII screen. Tower personnel are not cognizant of 757 wake turbulence intensity (apparently they do not read published incidents in ASRS). Due to our gross weight. We would have lifted off beyond 757 liftoff point and thus be directly in its wake pattern. Plus, no wind condition would have no dissipation effect. 757 should be given 'heavy' designation and all tower operators educated accordingly.

Title: FLC OF AN MLG ACR ACFT DELAYED THEIR TWR TKOF CLRNC TO AVOID POSSIBLE WAKE TURB FROM A DEPARTING B757 ACFT.
Narrative: NEAR MAX GROSS WT TKOF. PRECEDING ACFT TO TKOF WAS ACR Y 757. TWR CLRED US TO TKOF 30 SECONDS AFTER 757 LIFTOFF. ACR Y WAS ONLY 2 MI AWAY ON TCASII SCREEN. TWR PERSONNEL ARE NOT COGNIZANT OF 757 WAKE TURB INTENSITY (APPARENTLY THEY DO NOT READ PUBLISHED INCIDENTS IN ASRS). DUE TO OUR GROSS WT. WE WOULD HAVE LIFTED OFF BEYOND 757 LIFTOFF POINT AND THUS BE DIRECTLY IN ITS WAKE PATTERN. PLUS, NO WIND CONDITION WOULD HAVE NO DISSIPATION EFFECT. 757 SHOULD BE GIVEN 'HVY' DESIGNATION AND ALL TWR OPERATORS EDUCATED ACCORDINGLY.
