Narrative:
Reporter states that this is not a safe airport to fly into as there is a lot of traffic, in the air as well as on the ground. The facilities are limited and parking places are difficult to find or obtain. This is exacerbated by the fact that the airport does not have any taxi strips and there is only 1 runway so it is very difficult to get to the regular parking area without crossing a parallel dirt road that is often occupied by illegal aircraft, man or man in car who has a hostile attitude towards anyone in an aircraft. Reporter did not specify who 'man' was, could it be a 'happy owner?' airport is user unfriendly because of the lack of proper tie down cables. There is no fencing around for airport security, letting everyone and his dog into and across what airport is there. Reporter has sent carbon copy to DOT, jacksonville and office of the county commissioner. Note that the AFD graphic contains a note regarding airport' 'not FAA approved!'
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: ARPT FACILITIES COMPLAINT BY PVT PLT.
Narrative: RPTR STATES THAT THIS IS NOT A SAFE ARPT TO FLY INTO AS THERE IS A LOT OF TFC, IN THE AIR AS WELL AS ON THE GND. THE FACILITIES ARE LIMITED AND PARKING PLACES ARE DIFFICULT TO FIND OR OBTAIN. THIS IS EXACERBATED BY THE FACT THAT THE ARPT DOES NOT HAVE ANY TAXI STRIPS AND THERE IS ONLY 1 RWY SO IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO GET TO THE REGULAR PARKING AREA WITHOUT XING A PARALLEL DIRT ROAD THAT IS OFTEN OCCUPIED BY ILLEGAL ACFT, MAN OR MAN IN CAR WHO HAS A HOSTILE ATTITUDE TOWARDS ANYONE IN AN ACFT. RPTR DID NOT SPECIFY WHO 'MAN' WAS, COULD IT BE A 'HAPPY OWNER?' ARPT IS USER UNFRIENDLY BECAUSE OF THE LACK OF PROPER TIE DOWN CABLES. THERE IS NO FENCING AROUND FOR ARPT SECURITY, LETTING EVERYONE AND HIS DOG INTO AND ACROSS WHAT ARPT IS THERE. RPTR HAS SENT CARBON COPY TO DOT, JACKSONVILLE AND OFFICE OF THE COUNTY COMMISSIONER. NOTE THAT THE AFD GRAPHIC CONTAINS A NOTE REGARDING ARPT' 'NOT FAA APPROVED!'
