Narrative:

Due to embedded thunderstorms in the area, I decided to make the 15 NM trip from ewk to 3KM VFR. WX was reported 700 ft and 8 mi visibility on the ASOS (automated service observation system). I monitored the local approach control frequency so I could sequence my arrival with any aircraft on an IFR approach to 3KM. I reported my position upon entering the traffic pattern and I landed before an aircraft coming off the VOR-a approach. Although I was operating below class east airspace and was legally flying clear of the clouds with a minimum of 1 mi visibility, I was very uncomfortable intermingling with IFR traffic in marginal conditions. If I had it to do all over again, I would make the trip IFR so as to protect myself and others from a dangerous situation.

Title: UNAUTH PENETRATION OF CLASS D AIRSPACE BY CORP TURBOPROP.

Narrative: DUE TO EMBEDDED TSTMS IN THE AREA, I DECIDED TO MAKE THE 15 NM TRIP FROM EWK TO 3KM VFR. WX WAS RPTED 700 FT AND 8 MI VISIBILITY ON THE ASOS (AUTOMATED SVC OBSERVATION SYS). I MONITORED THE LCL APCH CTL FREQ SO I COULD SEQUENCE MY ARR WITH ANY ACFT ON AN IFR APCH TO 3KM. I RPTED MY POS UPON ENTERING THE TFC PATTERN AND I LANDED BEFORE AN ACFT COMING OFF THE VOR-A APCH. ALTHOUGH I WAS OPERATING BELOW CLASS E AIRSPACE AND WAS LEGALLY FLYING CLEAR OF THE CLOUDS WITH A MINIMUM OF 1 MI VISIBILITY, I WAS VERY UNCOMFORTABLE INTERMINGLING WITH IFR TFC IN MARGINAL CONDITIONS. IF I HAD IT TO DO ALL OVER AGAIN, I WOULD MAKE THE TRIP IFR SO AS TO PROTECT MYSELF AND OTHERS FROM A DANGEROUS SIT.
