Narrative:
With local TRACON at 5000 ft, heading 190 degrees/190 KTS, VMC being radar vectored to final. Was advised 767 was departing 30 and would level at 4000 ft. Acknowledge 'looking.' about 2 mins later controller asked if we had 767 at 8 to 9 O'clock 4600? We said no. Controller gave us climb (immediately) to 5500 ft, which we accomplished with gusto! 1 min later we were advised 767 was no longer a factor, descend to 5000 ft, and call final controller. Proceeded to land with no other events. Called TRACON on ground and was told separation was lost at 400 ft -- 1 mi. I can't give any suggestions on how to keep this from happening again. I would like to know if his TCASII was operating or not.
