Narrative:
During descent into psp we were maintaining altitude 17000 ft. At 46 DME northwest psp, V-137, we received a TA from ZLA informing us of traffic 12 O'clock 16500 ft. 1 min 20 seconds later, RA on TCASII instructed us to climb. ATC gave us a 15 degree turn to left. We climbed 17400, got visual passage of what looked like a king air off the right side 800 ft below and 1000 ft horizontal. After TCASII clear of conflict, we returned to 17000.

Narrative: DURING DSCNT INTO PSP WE WERE MAINTAINING ALT 17000 FT.
