Narrative:
During landing roll, check pilot flying single engine approach, aircraft landing was normal. Left engine at idle, aircraft settled to left side. Designated examiner said he thought we were getting a flat. Then left main landing gear collapsed. Aircraft came to rest approximately 50 ft off runway. Other wheels remained down and locked. Left main tire had a hole, but did not explode or damage wheel. Speed was approximately 40 KTS at time of collapse. Aircraft was a 1964 model, was used daily as a trainer. I believe the gear was fatigued since the collapse occurred on a normal landing with a 'green' gear down light. Tire was intact as was the wheel assembly. There was no damage to surrounding area of wheel well. There was no excessive vibration from the flat tire to cause a gear collapse under normal conditions.

Title: L MAIN LNDG GEAR COLLAPSES ON LNDG ROLLOUT.
Narrative: DURING LNDG ROLL, CHK PLT FLYING SINGLE ENG APCH, ACFT LNDG WAS NORMAL. L ENG AT IDLE, ACFT SETTLED TO L SIDE. DESIGNATED EXAMINER SAID HE THOUGHT WE WERE GETTING A FLAT. THEN L MAIN LNDG GEAR COLLAPSED. ACFT CAME TO REST APPROX 50 FT OFF RWY. OTHER WHEELS REMAINED DOWN AND LOCKED. L MAIN TIRE HAD A HOLE, BUT DID NOT EXPLODE OR DAMAGE WHEEL. SPD WAS APPROX 40 KTS AT TIME OF COLLAPSE. ACFT WAS A 1964 MODEL, WAS USED DAILY AS A TRAINER. I BELIEVE THE GEAR WAS FATIGUED SINCE THE COLLAPSE OCCURRED ON A NORMAL LNDG WITH A 'GREEN' GEAR DOWN LIGHT. TIRE WAS INTACT AS WAS THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO SURROUNDING AREA OF WHEEL WELL. THERE WAS NO EXCESSIVE VIBRATION FROM THE FLAT TIRE TO CAUSE A GEAR COLLAPSE UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS.
