Narrative:
While departing ord, we were assigned 5000 ft by clearance delivery. During the climb, we went through our assigned altitude and realized this at 6000 ft. We descended back down to 5000 ft. This happened because most of the aircraft at our company have altitude alerters and we just picked it up in ord. Another factor was pilot distrs. Supplemental information from acn 274163: this happened because most of the aircraft at our company have altitude alerters. But we had just switched into this aircraft at ord and it did not have an altitude alerter. We were also a little tired from getting up at 3 am for this trip.
