Narrative:
At the gate in sfo; fix KD45S was entered as an en route point instead of KD42S. ZDV said 'we show you a little off course.' we corrected on course. No conflict with other aircraft. The fix just prior to KD42S was a KD45 fix as well. I remember checking the route at the gate. My mistake; I need to be more diligent and really look at what I am checking.

Title: AN MD80 FLT CREW DEVIATED FROM THEIR CLRED TRACK BECAUSE THEY ENTERED KD45S ENRTE INSTEAD OF KD42S.
Narrative: AT THE GATE IN SFO; FIX KD45S WAS ENTERED AS AN ENRTE POINT INSTEAD OF KD42S. ZDV SAID 'WE SHOW YOU A LITTLE OFF COURSE.' WE CORRECTED ON COURSE. NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER ACFT. THE FIX JUST PRIOR TO KD42S WAS A KD45 FIX AS WELL. I REMEMBER CHKING THE RTE AT THE GATE. MY MISTAKE; I NEED TO BE MORE DILIGENT AND REALLY LOOK AT WHAT I AM CHKING.
