Narrative:
After landing on runway 21L at dtw and clearing the runway, dtw tower reported smoke from the left main gear. We were told to taxi on F and stop in front of the fire station, then we were cleared to the gate and emergency equipment followed us to the gate. A normal deplaning took place. According to the logbook, a new #1 brake assembly had been installed on jun/mon/94 and this was the first landing since. Upon inspection by maintenance, this was found to be the cause of the smoke. Maintenance also checked for any leaks in the wheel well area and found none.
