Narrative:

Landed in bna XA30 to pick up passenger. At start of taxi, nosewheel steering (electric) was not operating. Parked aircraft and called our company director of maintenance. We discussed the problem and the possibility of going without the electric steering by using differential braking. This is a common practice with this aircraft. I expressed concern about the retraction of the nose gear and was told that would not be a problem. Our MEL did not include the nose steering. My understanding of the situation at the time was that it was legal to go.
