Narrative:

After we departed pit airport the tower transferred us to departure control. First officer did not have proper frequency for departure or proper transponder code set in transponder. The next day she told me that she probably had forgotten to pick up our departure clearance. In the future I need to verify that we have our IFR clearance before we leave the gate.

Narrative: AFTER WE DEPARTED PIT ARPT THE TWR TRANSFERRED US TO DEP CTL. FO DID NOT HAVE PROPER FREQ FOR DEP OR PROPER XPONDER CODE SET IN XPONDER. THE NEXT DAY SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE PROBABLY HAD FORGOTTEN TO PICK UP OUR DEP CLRNC. IN THE FUTURE I NEED TO VERIFY THAT WE HAVE OUR IFR CLRNC BEFORE WE LEAVE THE GATE.
