Narrative:
I was giving instructions to a student pilot. We took off out of andrews AFB (kadw) at XA45, VFR direct tipton (fme). Do to unfamiliarization to area and low visibility we became disoriented soon after departure. I told my student to proceed northbound and to continue to look for landmarks. A few mins later I saw bwi at my 12 O'clock took the controls from my student and did a 180 degree heading sbound because tipton was just south of bwi. Well after some hard looking I finally found tipton and showed it to my student. I told my student to enter me into the pattern and to make the appropriate calls to tipton traffic. Well as soon as he did sure enough bwi was on the radio asking us for our full call sign. Which we gave him, then the controller gave me a number to call as soon as I landed. When we got on the ground I shut down, got out and called the number. It was bwi tower and he told me that we had broken into their 7 mi ring and that air carrier had complained so he had to fill out this form. Well, I gave the controller what he asked me for (name, address, phone, certificate number). The controller told me that I would be hearing from them soon. Waiting with my fingers crossed.
