Narrative:
After liftoff at boise, the cockpit crew heard a thud. It sounded like a bird strike. The tower called us and said we left pieces of rubber on the runway. A company mechanic later let us know it was a recap from one of our main tires. After talking about the problem with dispatch, maintenance, the captain and I felt it was safer to continue to destination, than return to boise and make a very overweight landing. The landing was normal and uneventful. Fire crews and maintenance checked the aircraft while stopped on the runway and said it was safe to taxi the aircraft to the gate.
