Narrative:
It turns out that minimums for the lda/DME approach to sitka is 1 1/4 mi for category C aircraft. For many yrs minimums at sitka were 1 mi for category C aircraft. Copilot briefed the approach plate at 1 mi visual required and I agreed with him without looking at the plate too closely. We had what we believed to be minimums, shot the approach and landed. After we had departed sitka en route to seattle we heard another aircraft on center frequency tell him that they needed 1 1/4 mi visual for the lda. The copilot and I looked at each other and decided to take another look at the approach plate. Well, category C minimums have changed recently from 1 mi to 1 1/4 mi and this escaped our attention because of our familiarity with the area and the approach. When new approach plates come out they will be scrutinized a little more closely.

Title: FLC OF AN MLG INADVERTENTLY MADE AN INST APCH BELOW MINIMUMS FOR THEIR ACFT CATEGORY.
Narrative: IT TURNS OUT THAT MINIMUMS FOR THE LDA/DME APCH TO SITKA IS 1 1/4 MI FOR CATEGORY C ACFT. FOR MANY YRS MINIMUMS AT SITKA WERE 1 MI FOR CATEGORY C ACFT. COPLT BRIEFED THE APCH PLATE AT 1 MI VISUAL REQUIRED AND I AGREED WITH HIM WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE PLATE TOO CLOSELY. WE HAD WHAT WE BELIEVED TO BE MINIMUMS, SHOT THE APCH AND LANDED. AFTER WE HAD DEPARTED SITKA ENRTE TO SEATTLE WE HEARD ANOTHER ACFT ON CTR FREQ TELL HIM THAT THEY NEEDED 1 1/4 MI VISUAL FOR THE LDA. THE COPLT AND I LOOKED AT EACH OTHER AND DECIDED TO TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT THE APCH PLATE. WELL, CATEGORY C MINIMUMS HAVE CHANGED RECENTLY FROM 1 MI TO 1 1/4 MI AND THIS ESCAPED OUR ATTN BECAUSE OF OUR FAMILIARITY WITH THE AREA AND THE APCH. WHEN NEW APCH PLATES COME OUT THEY WILL BE SCRUTINIZED A LITTLE MORE CLOSELY.
