Narrative:
While crossing airport area, approach control did not call traffic that was on final approach to the field. Landing aircraft was on tower frequency at the time of incident. Saw aircraft at 10 O'clock and 1/4 mi. Apparently we saw each other at approximately same time because he had started a go around (nose was up and engine exhaust increased). I started a descending right turn to avoid. I was unable to see actual separation due to him passing to my left rear. After incident I gave details to both tower supervisor and FSS data collection.

Title: EMS HELI HAS NMAC WITH ACFT ON FINAL APCH.
Narrative: WHILE XING ARPT AREA, APCH CTL DID NOT CALL TFC THAT WAS ON FINAL APCH TO THE FIELD. LNDG ACFT WAS ON TWR FREQ AT THE TIME OF INCIDENT. SAW ACFT AT 10 O'CLOCK AND 1/4 MI. APPARENTLY WE SAW EACH OTHER AT APPROX SAME TIME BECAUSE HE HAD STARTED A GAR (NOSE WAS UP AND ENG EXHAUST INCREASED). I STARTED A DSNDING R TURN TO AVOID. I WAS UNABLE TO SEE ACTUAL SEPARATION DUE TO HIM PASSING TO MY L REAR. AFTER INCIDENT I GAVE DETAILS TO BOTH TWR SUPVR AND FSS DATA COLLECTION.
