Narrative:
Cleared for approach, runway 9R mia -- slow descent due to ATC request for 210 KTS to 11 mi -- staying above scattered cloud deck. TCASII called 'traffic traffic' and showed target at 2 O'clock at about 500 below, climbing slowly. TCASII called 'increase descent' at about the same time ATC called 'traffic, 1-2 O'clock, 3600 ft indicated.' we were already looking, and then TCASII told us to descend immediately, and I pushed forward, we probably went close to zero G's. At that time we saw the aircraft, possibly a cessna 402 just above our altitude and crossing directly above us. We told ATC that we were responding to TCASII, and that we also (finally) had aircraft in sight. We were in class B airspace, so we asked if ATC was talking to another aircraft, they said 'no.' I asked them to 'nail' that aircraft. In talking to approach later, they said that they lost the aircraft over phk VOR.

Title: NMAC IN CLASS 'B' AIRSPACE.
Narrative: CLRED FOR APCH, RWY 9R MIA -- SLOW DSCNT DUE TO ATC REQUEST FOR 210 KTS TO 11 MI -- STAYING ABOVE SCATTERED CLOUD DECK. TCASII CALLED 'TFC TFC' AND SHOWED TARGET AT 2 O'CLOCK AT ABOUT 500 BELOW, CLBING SLOWLY. TCASII CALLED 'INCREASE DSCNT' AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME ATC CALLED 'TFC, 1-2 O'CLOCK, 3600 FT INDICATED.' WE WERE ALREADY LOOKING, AND THEN TCASII TOLD US TO DSND IMMEDIATELY, AND I PUSHED FORWARD, WE PROBABLY WENT CLOSE TO ZERO G'S. AT THAT TIME WE SAW THE ACFT, POSSIBLY A CESSNA 402 JUST ABOVE OUR ALT AND XING DIRECTLY ABOVE US. WE TOLD ATC THAT WE WERE RESPONDING TO TCASII, AND THAT WE ALSO (FINALLY) HAD ACFT IN SIGHT. WE WERE IN CLASS B AIRSPACE, SO WE ASKED IF ATC WAS TALKING TO ANOTHER ACFT, THEY SAID 'NO.' I ASKED THEM TO 'NAIL' THAT ACFT. IN TALKING TO APCH LATER, THEY SAID THAT THEY LOST THE ACFT OVER PHK VOR.
