Narrative:
Before being handed off to lax tower. So cal approach issued us instructions to maintain 170 KTS or less and not to pass a 767 on final for the parallel runway. This was at a point approximately 20 mi from touchdown. I saw the 767 fully configured gear/flaps down at 20 mi point. I configured my aircraft to slow and follow. At approximately 8 mi the 767 complained to the tower that his TCASII alerted. Tower informed him he had us 'both in sight' at approximately 5 mi. I slowed to 130 KTS and was catching the 767 at approximately 2 mi and 125 KTS on my airspeed, 5 KTS under our recommended approach speed. I caught and slightly overtook the 767. 767 complained that I passed him, to the tower, I informed the 767 I could slow no further, as I myself was following heavy traffic and was at this time well below my recommended approach speed. He said that was my problem. When we landed I called the tower supervisor and explained the situation and was informed that in the future, to inform the tower, and that we may have to go around if the other aircraft complains.

Title: COMMUTER LTT PASSES 767 ON PARALLEL APCH.
Narrative: BEFORE BEING HANDED OFF TO LAX TWR. SO CAL APCH ISSUED US INSTRUCTIONS TO MAINTAIN 170 KTS OR LESS AND NOT TO PASS A 767 ON FINAL FOR THE PARALLEL RWY. THIS WAS AT A POINT APPROX 20 MI FROM TOUCHDOWN. I SAW THE 767 FULLY CONFIGURED GEAR/FLAPS DOWN AT 20 MI POINT. I CONFIGURED MY ACFT TO SLOW AND FOLLOW. AT APPROX 8 MI THE 767 COMPLAINED TO THE TWR THAT HIS TCASII ALERTED. TWR INFORMED HIM HE HAD US 'BOTH IN SIGHT' AT APPROX 5 MI. I SLOWED TO 130 KTS AND WAS CATCHING THE 767 AT APPROX 2 MI AND 125 KTS ON MY AIRSPD, 5 KTS UNDER OUR RECOMMENDED APCH SPD. I CAUGHT AND SLIGHTLY OVERTOOK THE 767. 767 COMPLAINED THAT I PASSED HIM, TO THE TWR, I INFORMED THE 767 I COULD SLOW NO FURTHER, AS I MYSELF WAS FOLLOWING HVY TFC AND WAS AT THIS TIME WELL BELOW MY RECOMMENDED APCH SPD. HE SAID THAT WAS MY PROB. WHEN WE LANDED I CALLED THE TWR SUPVR AND EXPLAINED THE SIT AND WAS INFORMED THAT IN THE FUTURE, TO INFORM THE TWR, AND THAT WE MAY HAVE TO GAR IF THE OTHER ACFT COMPLAINS.
