Narrative:
On wbound VFR approach to newark airport from statue of liberty to field under control of newark tower 127.85, instruction was received to land on runway 22L behind DC9 and in front of 737 which would land on runway 22R. The instructions were repeated and confirmed. They were received 2-3 mi from the field. After landing and holding short of runway 22R, query was made to newark tower 127.85 for further instructions. An advisement was received to switch to newark tower 118.3. Upon contact with tower 118.3, advisement was received they had attempted to call. We advised we were not given instructions to contact tower 118.3. By later telephone conversation with newark tower, I was informed that newark tower 118.3 had given go around instructions which we did not receive. An emergency was in progress for a runway 22L preceding aircraft which had cleared the runway prior to our landing.
