Narrative:

While giving dual instruction in a quad city challenger ii, usua registration operating under FAA exemption, a near miss occurred at bob lee airport in deland, fl. I entered the traffic pattern at 600-700 ft and traffic was left downwind to runway 9, winds 10 mph east. A pilot operating a schweitzer 2-33 glider apparently was overtaking me, descending through my altitude and turning inside me. I never saw him in the pattern, I believe because he was behind and above me until final. On final, he overtook me and passed below and slightly to my left. He became visible when he passed my main left gear as seen from the instructors seat. I immediately took control from the student and simultaneously executed an evasive action to the right and a go around, returned to the field and landed. The glider upon touchdown made an immediate left turn and contacted trees with both wings causing damage to same.
