Narrative:

En route ord-clt. Lead flight attendant reported that a passenger had opened an overhead compartment door and a briefcase fell out onto another passenger's head. A doctor was summoned. The doctor requested the emergency medical kit. After examining the victim, the doctor reported to us that immediate further medical attention was necessary. We informed the doctor that it would take us 20 mins to descend and land at cvg, or 40 mins if we continued to clt. He told us he thought it best to land at cvg. The captain worked to arrange our arrival at cvg with dispatch and cvg operations. I flew the aircraft and handed ATC communications until the approach phase to cvg. Paramedics met us in cvg and attended to the victim. We were refueled and redispatched to clt. The balance of the flight was uneventful.
