Narrative:
On several occasions maintenance technicians will be working or just take the local control BRITE displays. When they do this, the displays go into error and we have no idea why. On local control #1 display, we don't ever get an error message. How can we use displays that are unusable if we don't ever know they went out.

Title: ATC EQUIP PROB BRITE RADAR SCOPE FAILURE. MAINT TECHNICIANS TAKING SCOPE OTS WITHOUT COORD WITH TWR.
Narrative: ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS MAINT TECHNICIANS WILL BE WORKING OR JUST TAKE THE LCL CTL BRITE DISPLAYS. WHEN THEY DO THIS, THE DISPLAYS GO INTO ERROR AND WE HAVE NO IDEA WHY. ON LCL CTL #1 DISPLAY, WE DON'T EVER GET AN ERROR MESSAGE. HOW CAN WE USE DISPLAYS THAT ARE UNUSABLE IF WE DON'T EVER KNOW THEY WENT OUT.
