Narrative:
An ATP pilot needed a ride home to his base at caldwell, nj, after dropping his plane off at a maintenance station. I was asked to provide him the flight since it wasn't far out of my way. After arriving at caldwell, an airport that I have never landed at before, the gentleman was so thankful I flew him back to his home base, he wanted to get me on my way home as quickly as possible. He told me to stop on the taxiway after exiting the active runway and he would jump out thereby saving me the time of taxiing to the ramp and shutting down the engine. I felt the man's intentions were sincere, so without thinking, I cooperated. Ground control asked if I just let a passenger disembark the airplane on the taxiway, and I said yes. The ground controller then proceeded to tell me that was against the regulations. My decision to let him out of the plane on the taxiway was skewed because of his insistence of not making me go out of my way on his behalf any longer than was necessary. Telling him I have to taxi to the ramp would have been the correct thing to do.

Title: ILLEGAL TXWY OP.
Narrative: AN ATP PLT NEEDED A RIDE HOME TO HIS BASE AT CALDWELL, NJ, AFTER DROPPING HIS PLANE OFF AT A MAINT STATION. I WAS ASKED TO PROVIDE HIM THE FLT SINCE IT WASN'T FAR OUT OF MY WAY. AFTER ARRIVING AT CALDWELL, AN ARPT THAT I HAVE NEVER LANDED AT BEFORE, THE GENTLEMAN WAS SO THANKFUL I FLEW HIM BACK TO HIS HOME BASE, HE WANTED TO GET ME ON MY WAY HOME AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. HE TOLD ME TO STOP ON THE TXWY AFTER EXITING THE ACTIVE RWY AND HE WOULD JUMP OUT THEREBY SAVING ME THE TIME OF TAXIING TO THE RAMP AND SHUTTING DOWN THE ENG. I FELT THE MAN'S INTENTIONS WERE SINCERE, SO WITHOUT THINKING, I COOPERATED. GND CTL ASKED IF I JUST LET A PAX DISEMBARK THE AIRPLANE ON THE TXWY, AND I SAID YES. THE GND CTLR THEN PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT WAS AGAINST THE REGS. MY DECISION TO LET HIM OUT OF THE PLANE ON THE TXWY WAS SKEWED BECAUSE OF HIS INSISTENCE OF NOT MAKING ME GO OUT OF MY WAY ON HIS BEHALF ANY LONGER THAN WAS NECESSARY. TELLING HIM I HAVE TO TAXI TO THE RAMP WOULD HAVE BEEN THE CORRECT THING TO DO.
