Narrative:
As we were taxiing into the gate at mci, a ground agent ran over from an adjacent gate to wave us in. We followed his guidance till the stop signal was given. Simultaneously, we heard a noise in #1 engine, and the agent signaled to cut the engine. We ingested a heater nozzle in the engine causing major damage. I believe this incident happened because of lack of proper training to ground personnel.
