Narrative:

After reaching 10000 ft and starting to accelerate, we get frequency change to center, almost simultaneously we got a TCASII alert while center gives us 360 degree heading and clearance to climb to FL200. TCASII recommended a descent. After nosing over to discontinue climb. Traffic was spotted at 1 O'clock position and passed off our right side. We then rechked our climb clearance and proceeded uneventfully. Center never had traffic. Supplemental information from acn 289115: thought target was same direction and quick climb would clear traffic. Traffic, however, was opposite direction and TCASII called for descent. Stopped climb as first officer called visual on traffic -- traffic passed 200 ft away.
