Narrative:
On walk around I noted fuel streaming from the fuel receptacle during the refueling process (no fuel leaked after refueling). I mentioned to captain this discrepancy during the preflight and he decided that it was nothing to worry about. En route, the captain wrote the discrepancy up for our arrival. Luckily, maintenance determined that the leak was the result of a faulty refueling truck and not the aircraft. My perception is that it is just not worth cutting corners to get a flight out on time. I think the emphasis on on-time flts by the FAA is inappropriate and leads to carelessness.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: MLG HAS FUEL LEAKING FROM FUEL RECEPTACLE DURING REFUELING PROCESS.
Narrative: ON WALK AROUND I NOTED FUEL STREAMING FROM THE FUEL RECEPTACLE DURING THE REFUELING PROCESS (NO FUEL LEAKED AFTER REFUELING). I MENTIONED TO CAPT THIS DISCREPANCY DURING THE PREFLT AND HE DECIDED THAT IT WAS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. ENRTE, THE CAPT WROTE THE DISCREPANCY UP FOR OUR ARR. LUCKILY, MAINT DETERMINED THAT THE LEAK WAS THE RESULT OF A FAULTY REFUELING TRUCK AND NOT THE ACFT. MY PERCEPTION IS THAT IT IS JUST NOT WORTH CUTTING CORNERS TO GET A FLT OUT ON TIME. I THINK THE EMPHASIS ON ON-TIME FLTS BY THE FAA IS INAPPROPRIATE AND LEADS TO CARELESSNESS.
