Narrative:
We stopped at deice pad to deice due to light snow that had fallen since the plane parked at gate. We were deiced with type I fluid and were airborne shortly after deicing. We realized after departure that the ATIS was calling light freezing rain and that type ii fluid should have also been applied. Contributing factor: might be freezing precipitation could not be detected. Corrective action: maybe when receiving ATIS be aware of deicing requirements may be freezing precipitation will not be able to be determined by the flight crew.
