Narrative:
While taxiing from FBO at south end of field to FBO at mid field, just north of terminal, I was taxiing north on taxiway 'a.' ground informed me that the location of mid-field FBO would be my next left just past terminal and cleared me to ramp. As I turned off at 'delta' taxiway I noticed that this skirts the edge of the air carrier ramp. As I crossed onto FBO ramp I noticed some red terminating type lights on edge of ramp. Being unfamiliar with field I doublechked taxi chart and did not notice any hold short symbols or text. Nor were there any lighted signs indicating such. No comment was made by ground control as I assume this was the route they had planned for me. Hindsight dictates that I should have clarified instructions with ground. Also, if there is a hold short or no taxi area there, some additional signs or chart notations would be helpful.

Title: PLT OF AN SMT TWIN CONCERNED ABOUT ACTUAL INTENT AND MEANING OF RED LIGHTS ON EDGE OF RAMP AREA.
Narrative: WHILE TAXIING FROM FBO AT S END OF FIELD TO FBO AT MID FIELD, JUST N OF TERMINAL, I WAS TAXIING N ON TXWY 'A.' GND INFORMED ME THAT THE LOCATION OF MID-FIELD FBO WOULD BE MY NEXT L JUST PAST TERMINAL AND CLRED ME TO RAMP. AS I TURNED OFF AT 'DELTA' TXWY I NOTICED THAT THIS SKIRTS THE EDGE OF THE ACR RAMP. NO COMMENT WAS MADE BY GND CTL AS I ASSUME THIS WAS THE RTE THEY HAD PLANNED FOR ME. HINDSIGHT DICTATES THAT I SHOULD HAVE CLARIFIED INSTRUCTIONS WITH GND. ALSO, IF THERE IS A HOLD SHORT OR NO TAXI AREA THERE, SOME ADDITIONAL SIGNS OR CHART NOTATIONS WOULD BE HELPFUL.
